Onsen eggs are soft-boiled eggs cooked in hot spring water. It takes about 30 minutes, and each person can cook one egg free of charge. Please have fun making your own tasty hot spring egg!

A highlight of staying at a traditional hot spring inn is a freshly made breakfast, carefully prepared to set you up for the day ahead.
We offer steaming bowls of locally grown rice, hot soup, and healthy side-dishes that are both tasty and nutritious. Please enjoy our own brand of traditional Japanese breakfast during your stay at Matuya Sensen.
At Matuya Sensen, guests may order special dishes to supplement the regular full-course meal, making for an even more memorable dining experience.
Options include Echizen crab (winter only), sashimi (raw seafood), and more.
Echizen crabs, caught here in Fukui Prefecture, are renowned for their extraordinary taste and flavor. Guests can enjoy various types of local seafood, delicately nurtured by the ever-changing tides and complex currents of the ocean.
Thanks to the bountiful natural resources and changing climate of the local area, there are plenty of local ingredients to enjoy, including high-grade Koshihikari rice, Wakasa beef, and Fukui pork. Please enjoy a range of unique ingredients from the surrounding area.
For sake lovers, we also offer a selection of local sake, procured from various parts of the Fukui region.

If you are looking to enjoy a leisurely and relaxing time, then staying in one of our Sensen-Kan guest rooms is the perfect way to make the most of your trip.
This wing offers three types of rooms—standard rooms, Western-style twin rooms, and special rooms.
Renovated in 2021, the rooms on this wing are Matuya Sensen’s standard Japanese-style rooms, and are recommended for guests who want a more casual ryokan experience.

Our female bathing area features a variety of baths, including a solo-bathing bath, a 'ne-yu' sleeping bath, and a healing sauna that offers the same benefits as a bedrock bath.
There’s also a ladies-only floor containing a relaxation parlor to enjoy after bathing, an aesthetician’s spa, and more.
Matuya Sensen boasts one of the largest bathing facilities in the Hokuriku region—please enjoy trying out all the different kinds of baths on offer.

The male bathing facility includes an open-air bath as well as one of the largest baths in the Hokuriku region. Each of the five baths has a unique ambiance, and each offers a blissful bathing experience.
The bathing area is spacious, making it perfect for a long, leisurely soak. Each wash station is sectioned off for an added sense of privacy.

Makeup remover and moisturizer are available in the powder room, which is divided into individual booths. After your bath, enjoy a sense of privacy as you take some time to care for your skin. The relaxation parlor’s interior decorations blend traditional Japanese and modern designs. Please relax and make yourself at home. One bath towel will be provided per person.
